Adegas Beira-Mar
Casal da Azenha Red
Pickup currently not available
Casal da Azenha Red is a Portuguese red wine from the Lisbon region, made by Adegas Beira-Mar in Azenhas do Mar near Colares from Atlantic-coast vineyards and traditional grapes such as Ramisco and Castelão. It is an honest, old-school everyday red with the cool, salty breath of the coast, at a very easy price point for what is in the bottle.
Tasting notes
Light to medium bodied, with red fruit, a touch of earth and fresh acidity. Recent vintages have blended Ramisco with Castelão, Trincadeira and Tinta Miúda, and the wine ages in neutral barrels, so the fruit stays at the front.
Food pairing
Pour it with bifanas, grilled chicken piri-piri, carne de porco à alentejana or a plate of chouriço and broa. It also takes a slight chill on a warm day.
About Adegas Beira-Mar
Adegas Beira-Mar was founded in 1898 in Azenhas do Mar, the cliff-top village near Colares. António Bernardino Paulo da Silva carries on the work of his father and grandfather and is one of the few producers still working with the area's traditional grapes.
