Casa de Darei Lagar de Darei Red 2021

Lagar de Darei Red 2021 is a Dão red wine from Casa de Darei, fermented in traditional stone lagares on a family farm by the Dão river. It is a fresh, juicy Portuguese red that goes with almost any dinner, and it shows the elegant side of the Dão.

Tasting notes

A recent vintage of this red was mainly Touriga Nacional and Jaen, and was described as floral and juicy, with raspberry and sour cherry and a little bite. Expect that same fresh, mid-weight Dão style here.

Food pairing

Pair it with roast chicken, grilled pork chops, rojões à minhota or a mushroom and chestnut stew.

About Casa de Darei

José Ruivo bought the farm on the banks of the Dão river, at about 400 metres, in 1997, and runs it today with his son Carlos. They made their first wine in 1999 and still ferment in traditional stone lagares.

• Serve at 16-18 °C. Keeps 2 to 3 days once opened, cork back in.
