Barbeito
Barbeito Rainwater Reserva Madeira
Pickup currently not available
Barbeito Rainwater Reserva is a light, medium-dry Portuguese fortified wine from the island of Madeira, a blend of Tinta Negra and Verdelho aged five years in French oak casks. Rainwater is the historic, lighter style of Madeira, and Barbeito's version is a favourite of bartenders and wine critics alike: an easy, fresh way to start with Madeira.
Tasting notes
Pale gold to pale orange. Critics describe dried apricot, dried citrus, light brown sugar and gentle toasted, nutty notes, with strong acidity and a lively, savoury finish. The oak marks both the nose and the palate.
Food pairing
Serve it chilled as an aperitif with salted nuts, olives or a Roquefort, with a mushroom consommé, or with a light dessert such as pão de ló.
About Barbeito
Barbeito is a family house founded on Madeira in 1946 and now run by Ricardo de Freitas, grandson of the founder. It is known for its pure style: no caramel is added to colour the wines, so they keep their natural pale colour and freshness.
