Barbeito 10 Year Old Sercial Madeira

Barbeito 10 Year Old Sercial is a dry Portuguese Madeira wine from the island of Madeira, made from the Sercial grape by Vinhos Barbeito, a family house founded in 1946. Sercial is the driest and most nervy of the classic Madeira grapes, and at ten years old it becomes a thrilling glass for anyone who likes fortified wine with tension.

Tasting notes

Sercial Madeira is known for its piercing acidity, notes of citrus peel, almond and dried fruit, and a long, tangy finish. Ten years of cask ageing add depth and a nutty, oxidative character, while the dry style keeps it fresh.

Food pairing

Serve it as an aperitif with salted almonds, olives or cured ham, or alongside a clear consommé, bolo do caco with garlic butter, or hard aged cheeses.

About Barbeito

Vinhos Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos and has stayed in the family ever since. After his death in 1985 his daughter Manuela de Vasconcelos took over, and the house is now known for precise, fresh Madeiras.
