Barbeito
Barbeito 10 Year Old Malvasia Madeira
Barbeito 10 Year Old Malvasia is a sweet Madeira wine made by Barbeito from Malvasia grapes grown in São Jorge, on the north coast of Madeira. It is a dessert wine with real freshness, and one of the best ways to discover what makes Madeira unique.
Tasting notes
Bright, deep gold. The nose shows dried flowers, ripe citrus, honey and toasted almonds, with hints of wood and resin. The palate is round and rich, yet lively acidity balances the sweetness and leads to a long, lightly spiced finish.
Food pairing
Serve it with pastéis de nata, bolo de mel from Madeira, dark chocolate or candied fruit. It is also a fine match for foie gras and blue or aged cheeses.
About Barbeito
Barbeito was founded in 1946 by Mário Barbeito and is now run by Ricardo Freitas, who makes the wines. This Malvasia is aged for more than ten years in French oak casks warmed by the sun, the traditional canteiro method.
