Arribas Wine Company Saroto Vinhas Velhas Red
Pickup currently not available
Saroto Vinhas Velhas is an old-vine red wine from Arribas Wine Company in Trás-os-Montes, a field blend of local red grapes with some white grapes mixed in. It comes from forgotten vineyards on the edge of the international Douro, rescued by two winemakers with family roots there. Juicy, honest and full of character, it tastes of a place few people know.
Tasting notes
About 70% red and 30% white grapes, from vines around 70 years old on granite. Whole bunches are foot-trodden in a lagar and the wine ages in used French oak. Expect cherry and berry fruit, some texture and tannin, and a firm, fresh line.
Food pairing
Great with alheira de Mirandela, grilled pork, a mushroom and chestnut stew, or a board of smoked sausages and cured cheese.
About Arribas Wine Company
Arribas Wine Company was founded in 2017 by Ricardo Alves and Frederico Machado in Bemposta, Mogadouro, on the Portuguese side of the international Douro. They revive old, mixed-variety vineyards and make the wines with foot treading and very little intervention.
