Arribas Wine Company Saroto Vinhas Velhas Palhete
Saroto Palhete is a light red palhete from Arribas Wine Company in Trás-os-Montes, made from roughly half red and half white old-vine grapes fermented together. Palhete is an old Portuguese tradition, between a rosé and a red. This one is pale, crunchy and easy to love, the bottle you open on a warm evening and finish without noticing.
Tasting notes
Grapes from granite and schist plateau vineyards are foot-trodden as whole bunches and left two days on skins, then finish fermenting in oak. The result is a light, linear red with bright acidity, red fruit and a little grip.
Food pairing
Serve it chilled with grilled sardines, petiscos, a tomato and octopus salad, charcuterie or a mushroom pizza.
About Arribas Wine Company
Arribas Wine Company was founded in 2017 by Ricardo Alves and Frederico Machado in Bemposta, Mogadouro, on the Portuguese side of the international Douro. They revive old, mixed-variety vineyards and make the wines with foot treading and very little intervention.
