António Madeira
António Madeira Dão Red
Pickup currently not available
António Madeira Dão Red is a Portuguese red wine from the Dão, grown at around 500 metres at the foot of the Serra da Estrela and blended from Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Roriz and Jaen. It is a mountain red with finesse rather than weight, the kind of Dão that has put the region back on the map. Elegant enough for a special dinner, easy enough for a Sunday lunch.
Tasting notes
Deep cherry red. Recent vintages show a layered nose of fresh berries, violets, herbs and spice, then a lively, medium-bodied palate with fine tannins and a stony freshness. The wine is aged for around 16 to 18 months in used French oak barrels, so the oak stays in the background.
Food pairing
Lovely with roast lamb, duck rice, roast kid, grilled cod, or a slice of Serra da Estrela cheese.
