António Maçanita
António Maçanita Erupção
Pickup currently not available
Erupção is a Portuguese wine by António Maçanita, one of the winemakers who put Portugal's Atlantic island wines on the map. The name means "eruption", a nod to the volcanic origins of the islands where he works, and it is a bottle for anyone curious about the new wave of Portuguese wine.
Tasting notes
Island wines from Portugal's Atlantic archipelagos are known for their tension and salinity: grapes grown close to the ocean, in poor volcanic or sandy soils and constant sea wind, tend to give fresh, mineral wines with a long, salty finish. Ask us at the shop and we will tell you how this bottle is drinking right now.
Food pairing
Wines in this style love the sea: try grilled limpets, octopus, tuna steak, cataplana or fresh goat's cheese from the islands.
