Salt has been made here for centuries from an underground well of brine about seven times saltier than the ocean, spread in shallow pans and dried by the sun. In 2025 Sal de Rio Maior was granted EU Protected Designation of Origin status.

Good to know

Store in a dry place with the lid closed.
