It usually gives softer bubbles than classic sparkling wine, fresh fruit, a yeasty note and sometimes a light haze. Bairrada lies between the Atlantic and the Buçaco hills, and the region's acidity suits the style perfectly. The name echoes Maria Gomes, one of the white grapes the family grows.

Food pairing

Serve it with fried peixinhos da horta, croquetes, oysters, or a slice of leitão.

About Luís Pato

The Pato family farms around 55 hectares of vineyards in Bairrada, planted only with Portuguese grapes: Baga, Touriga Nacional, Maria Gomes, Bical, Cercial and Sercialinho. Luís Pato is a reference name in the region, known for championing Baga and for a creative streak in the cellar.

Good to know

Serve well chilled, at 6-8 °C, and open gently.
